OUR CHAMBER IS BLACK HISTORY
Black-owned businesses have always been more than enterprises—they are pillars of resilience, innovation, and community empowerment. From the earliest days of commerce to the bold movements of the Civil Rights era, these businesses have shaped America’s social and economic landscape.
During the fight for equality and justice, Black-owned businesses were not just places of trade—they were centers of strength and support. They provided critical funding for civil rights organizations, helped sustain protests, sit-ins, and legal battles, and created meaningful employment opportunities when discrimination left few doors open elsewhere. In doing so, they nurtured families, built communities, and fueled a movement that changed the course of history.
At the Space Coast Black Chamber of Commerce, we honor this legacy by continuing the mission: empowering Black entrepreneurs, strengthening communities, and shaping a future where Black businesses thrive.
OUR HISTORY: A LEGACY IN THE MAKING
The Space Coast Black Chamber of Commerce (SCBCC) was born from a movement—a call to action sparked by the historic March for Justice in June 2020, hosted by Victoria Jones’ nonprofit, Forever Our Home. Inspired to create a lasting platform for Black business leadership, Jones founded SCBCC on June 19, 2020. Just two months later, the Chamber convened its inaugural Board of Directors, uniting visionary leaders from across Brevard County. From day one, the mission was clear: to empower Black entrepreneurs, strengthen communities, and shape the economic future of the Space Coast.
2021 – Laying the Foundation
The Chamber’s first year was dedicated to building a strong, purposeful foundation. Policies, procedures, and strategic direction were carefully established—ensuring SCBCC would be a sustainable, long-term force for economic empowerment. Growth was measured, but every step was intentional.
2022 – Connecting, Celebrating, Inspiring
In 2022, SCBCC began turning vision into action. The Chamber launched its signature Back to Business Networking events, creating spaces for Black-owned businesses to connect, collaborate, and grow. That same year, the Launching Black Excellence Awards Gala debuted, honoring outstanding Black professionals and shining a spotlight on their achievements.
In a groundbreaking partnership with Spectrum, SCBCC gave five Black-owned businesses the gift of visibility with complimentary commercials on News 13, showcasing the Chamber’s commitment to elevating local entrepreneurs.
2023 – Expanding Reach and National Impact
By 2023, SCBCC had firmly established itself as a voice of influence and advocacy. The Chamber led its first delegation of Black leaders to Tallahassee for Black Chamber Day at the Capitol, while also joining both the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Black Chamber of Commerce, opening doors to national collaboration.
President Victoria Jones engaged with the newly established Office of Cybersecurity, received the 4 Under 40 Award from LEAD Brevard, and brought SCBCC to the White House, where she joined 80 Black leaders to discuss critical issues affecting Black businesses nationwide.
The Chamber hosted its first legislative conference, State of the Coast, and celebrated its second Launching Black Excellence Awards Gala during National Black Business Month, with former State Attorney Andrew Bain officiating the swearing-in of the Board—symbolizing SCBCC’s growing influence and recognition.
2024 – Advocacy, Innovation, and Forward Momentum
Even amidst internal restructuring, SCBCC continued to thrive. The Chamber made its second trip to Tallahassee, presented its first legislative agenda, participated in Brevard Day, and represented Black businesses at the Southern Economic Roundtable in Washington, D.C.
2025 – Five Years Strong
On June 19, 2025, SCBCC celebrated five years of impact, marking a milestone in a journey defined by empowerment, collaboration, and progress. The Chamber continues to champion youth entrepreneurship, expand member benefits, and provide workshops in financial literacy, digital marketing, and leadership development.
With strong partnerships with local government agencies and innovative initiatives like an upcoming mobile app for real-time updates, networking, and resources, SCBCC ensures that its members are always at the forefront of opportunity.
Reflecting on the journey, Founder, President & CEO Victoria Jones shares:
“We have achieved remarkable milestones thanks to the unwavering support of our members and partners. As we move forward, our focus remains on creating sustainable growth and fostering an inclusive business environment where everyone can thrive.”
